There was quite a large separist movement in the Scottish folk scene in the late 1960's so the Ghillies had to sing a good selection of separatist and republican songs despite only one of us being a Scot.

Noo Scotland has nae got a King
And she has nae got a Queen
How can there be a Second Liz
When the First yin's never been
Chorus:
El-iz the one, Elizabeth the twa
El-iz will never be
We'll mak' oor land Republican
When the Scottish breakaway

Chorus

Oh her husband the Duke o' Edinburrry
He's wan o' they kilted Greeks
Saying dinnae blaw ma kilt awa'
For it's Liz that wears the breeks

Chorus

He's a handsome man and he looks like Don Juan
He's beloved by the weaker sex
But it disnae really matter at a'
'Cause it's Liz that signs the cheques

Chorus

Noo her sister Meg's got a bonny pair o' legs
But she didnae want a German or a Greek
Poor aul' Peter was her choice but he didnae suit the boys
So they sellt him up the creek

Chorus

Sae here's tae the lion, the bonnie rampant lion,
An' a lang streitch tae his paw
Gie a Hampdon roar an' it's oot the door
Ta-ta tae Chairlie's maw
Chorus:
El-iz the one, Elizabeth the twa
El-iz will never be
We'll mak' oor land Republican
When the Scottish breakaway
