I first heard Patrice Galas (1948 - ) in the David Hall in South Petherton in Somerset, a most unlikely place to find such a jazz genius! He is a small man who needed his music case to raise him to a height where he could reach the keyboard but when he did the effect was impressive.
The track on the player below is called Elizondo and is composed by Galas. It is from a recording of Galas and Gorges Arvanitas at a live concert at a Paris Jazz festival in 1996.
If, like me, you are impressed with his pianistic ability the you can find more information about him at Discogs.
